FOCUS awarded a $50,000 grant as part of the 2023 Tech Equity Collective Impact Fund

Baltimore, MD – Focus on Children United for Success (FOCUS) is excited to announce that it has been awarded a $50,000 grant as part of the 2023 Tech Equity Collective Impact Fund, a Google initiative. The Tech Equity Collective recently announced The TEC Impact Fund, a $1 million fund aimed at supporting Black-led organizations unlocking opportunities for aspiring Black professionals in core technical roles in tech.

“We are extremely honored to be one of the recipients of this grant,” said Eric Brockman, Founder/CEO at FOCUS. “This funding will enable us to expand our programs and support even more aspiring young adults in Baltimore to pursue careers in the tech industry.”

FOCUS is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young people through education, workforce development, and community development. The organization provides a range of services, including job training, mentorship, and educational programs, to help young people achieve their goals and build a successful future for their families and their community.

With the funding from the Tech Equity Collective Impact Fund, FOCUS will be able to expand its tech-focused programs by investing in equipment for a state-of-the-art
computer lab for students.  The lab will feature the latest software configurations, including operating systems, database management tools, and programming languages. These tools will be integrated into real-world scenarios to allow students to practice and hone their skills. “Our lab will be a hub of innovation, offering our students the opportunity to work collaboratively and engage in experiential learning,” Brockman said.
