About this policy

FOCUS on Communities United for Success (“FOCUS,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through focusorg.org, our online forms, and our email and text communications. Additional notices may apply to particular programs or services.

Information you provide

We collect information you choose to submit when you contact us, request enrollment updates, apply for a program, volunteer, donate, or subscribe to communications. Depending on the form or request, this may include your name, email address, telephone number, address or ZIP code, date of birth, program interests, application information, and the contents of your messages. Our forms identify required fields. Please provide only information relevant to your request.

Website information and cookies

When you visit our website, technical information such as your IP address, browser and device information, pages requested, and access times may be processed by our website and hosting services to deliver content, maintain security, and diagnose technical problems.

WordPress uses cookies for functions such as sign-in and saved preferences. You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may prevent some features from working. Content and services embedded from other websites, such as donation forms or videos, may collect technical information, set their own cookies, and measure interactions. Their privacy policies govern their handling of that information.

How we use information

We use information to respond to inquiries; communicate about enrollment and program opportunities; process applications and administer programs; coordinate volunteers and events; support donations and related communications; maintain records; protect our website; and comply with applicable legal obligations. Providing a phone number or submitting a form does not, by itself, enroll you in SMS marketing.

Contact lists and service providers

We do not sell, rent, or share our contact lists with other organizations for their own use or marketing.

We use service providers to support activities such as website hosting, form processing, contact management, program administration, email and text delivery, and donation processing. These providers may process information needed to perform those services for FOCUS. This processing is different from providing our contact lists to another organization for its own marketing. Program registration information may be transferred to our FOCUS Classroom system to administer enrollment and training.

We may disclose information when required by law, to respond to lawful requests, or as necessary to protect rights and safety. We may also disclose information at your direction or with your consent.

SMS privacy and consent

If you opt in to text messages, we collect your mobile number, subscription preferences, consent and opt-out records, and message interactions to operate the SMS program. We do not sell, rent, or share mobile information or SMS opt-in and consent information with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Service providers that help deliver messages or support the program may process the information necessary for those services.

SMS participation is voluntary. Consent is not a condition of a purchase, donation, receipt of services, or program participation. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help. You may also call (571) 426-2443. See our SMS Terms and Conditions for details.

Your choices and requests

You may unsubscribe from promotional emails using the unsubscribe link in the message and opt out of SMS by replying STOP. To ask about personal information we hold, request access or correction, or request deletion, call (571) 426-2443 or use our Contact page. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We will respond consistent with applicable law; some information may need to be retained for program administration, legal obligations, security, or recordkeeping.

Retention and security

We retain personal information for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy and applicable recordkeeping obligations. The appropriate period depends on the type of information and the purpose for which it is used. Opt-out records may be retained to ensure that we continue to honor your preferences.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Please do not send passwords, payment card numbers, or other highly sensitive information by ordinary email or text message.

Children and third-party websites

Our website enrollment opportunities are directed to adults. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through our website, please contact us so we can review the matter and take appropriate action.

Links to third-party websites and embedded services are provided for convenience. Review their privacy policies before providing information; FOCUS does not control those websites.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices. The revised policy will be posted here with an updated date. We will provide additional notice or obtain consent when required by applicable law.
